The Nelson Hospital Theatre Suite consists of 6 Operating Theatres with a Recovery Room, a Sterile Services department and Endoscopy suite. We are a friendly and supportive team focusing on providing a caring and professional environment, delivering quality care and extended nursing practice.

Surgical specialties covered include: General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Gynaecology, Urology, ENT, Ophthalmology, Dental, Acute/Trauma, Paediatrics, Plastics and Vascular.

We have the following Anaesthetic Technician or RNAA opportunities available:

  • 1 x permanent full-time position, 80 hours a fortnight (1.0FTE).
  • 1 x permanent part-time position,64 hours per fortnight (0.8FTE).
  • 1 x fixed-term part-time position, 40 hours a fortnight covering parental leave until early July 2024 (0.5FTE).

Ko wai he kaitono tōtika? (Who is an appropriate applicant?)
To be considered for these positions you must be a Registered Anaesthetic Technician or a RNAA, with a current APC issued by The Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand (MSCNZ) or be eligible for the same.

You will be a team player who:

  • enjoys keeping up to date with clinical practice.
  • has the ability to cope with a high and varied workload, including emergency situations.
  • has excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • has recent clinical experience with strong observational and crisis management skills.
  • has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

The successful candidates must be eligible to work in New Zealand or hold a valid NZ visa at the time of applying.
