Nominations for NZATS Executive Committee 2018

NOMINATIONS FOR NZATS EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE 2018

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the NZATS Executive committee for someone who is passionate about the profession. If you are motivated, have some spare time on your hands, would like to do some voluntary work and are enthusiastic about Professional Development for Anaesthetic Technicians then this could be the role for you. Nominations are being called for the role of Professional Development Officer.

Please ensure that the person has agreed to be nominated and that they are a financial member of NZATS as a Registered Anaesthetic Technician and that they have the support of their employer to fulfill the role.

Inaugural Whangarei Symposium: Honour History – Challenge the Future

Accelerated Program – MSC Correspondence

Clinical Training Hours – Accelerated Programme

The Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand (the Council) received a request from the Anaesthetic Technician Training Hospitals for clarification of the clinical hours a trainee Anaesthesia Technician enrolled in the Accelerated Diploma in Applied Science – Anaesthetic Technology is required to complete before sitting the registration examination.

The Council has determined candidates enrolled in the two years accelerated programme must have a minimum of 3680 hours clinical experience to be eligible to apply to sit the Anaesthetic Technician Registration Examination. This being equivalent to working 40 hours per week (less annual leave/sick leave) over a two year training period. Subject to completing the accelerated programme of study and passing the registration examination a trainee who has completed the two year training period would be eligible to apply to the Council for registration as an Anaesthesia Technician.

The Executive are delighted to announce the release of the NZATS Education Fund.  A resource document has been created and is available  here under the Society Documents tab.   Important information such as eligibility and the application form are found within the document.

2018 Conference website

The 2018 Conference Organising Committee from Counties Manukau Health are working hard on behalf of NZATS to bring you an exciting educational event in November at the Cordis Hotel.  Their conference website is now up and running and can be found here.
