BHSc in Perioperative Practice developments

Announcement from AUT via email dated Friday 23 April:

The following is a brief announcement regarding the status of developments for the proposed BHSc in Perioperative Practice.

  • The proposal has completed its internal review within the University. The proposal will now be submitted to the Committee on University Academic Programmes (CUAP) for external review. It is anticipated that approval will be granted from July 2021.
  • There will be no fallow year of graduates to the Anaesthetic Technician workforce pipeline during the transition period between the existing qualifications, and the proposed.
  • The design of the pathway is such that it may be completed off-campus, or on-campus. Students are not required to be based in Auckland. Students may complete aspects of the course via off-campus learning (online). There will be an expectation to attend block courses to benefit from clinical simulation.
  • Further communication will be provided after July 2021 once the CUAP application is approved.
